Mrs. Jean Hancock of Walnut Ridge, formerly of Harrisburg, Arkansas, departed this life Monday night, March 4, 2019, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge, at the age of 88.
She was born February 18, 1931 in Harrisburg, the daughter of Joe Deckelman and Nell Ellzey Deckelman.
Lora was a lifetime resident of Harrisburg and was a homemaker. She married Floyd T. Hancock in 1947 and they have enjoyed 72 years together. She loved quilting and music, especially Elvis Presley and her brother\u0027s, Sonny Deckelman. She was of the Baptist faith and sang in the church choir for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joe "Sonny" Deckelman, Jr. and by her sister, Dorothy "Dot" Leech.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd T. Hancock of Hardy, AR, one daughter, Reta Hare of Hardy, one sister, Louise Haney of Harrisburg and one step-brother, L.D. Deckelman of Harrisburg, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services have been set for 11:00 a.m. Friday, at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg. Interment will follow in Bolivar Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers will be Brody Walls, Tim Rodney, Steven Walls, Derek Walls, Robert Norman and Eric Isbell. Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday evening, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
