Janice Kay Callicott, 71, of the Birdell community passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024 at her home.

She was born July 27, 1952 in Pocahontas to the late Woody and Jean Morris Carter.  She worked for many years as a Registered Nurse for the Arkansas Department of Health where she became certified in Community Health Nursing. She then served as the school nurse for Maynard School District.  Janice was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and friends, dancing, cooking and baking.  She was a faithful member of Pocahontas First United Methodist Church where she taught in the children's Sunday school program.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Woody and Jean Carter; and a nephew, Sam Lingo.

Janice is survived by her loving husband, Monte Callicott; sister, Umeca (Carl) Pickett of Mountain Home and sister-in-law, Linda Clarke of Pocahontas; nieces, Missy (Keith) Smyth of Gassville, AR; Kathy (Scott) Aden of North Carolina; Donna (Dan) Mathers of Arizona; and Leah (Paul) Jewell of Ohio; nephews, Alan (Mindy) Gouge of Indiana, and Zach Mathers of Arizona; godson, Corey Gouge of Indiana; goddaughters, Angela (Daniel) Baka of Texas and Olivia Bake of Texas; cousin, Dee (Dennis) Rashke of Texas; and many other relatives and friends.

Cremation has been chosen as the method of final disposition.  A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 12:30-2:00 PM in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a memorial service beginning at 2 PM with Pat Bodenhamer officiating.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Alan Gouge, James Ashcraft, Elaine Buxton, Sally Wellman, Diane Carter, Lou Slaton, Pam Wicker, and Paul Wicker.
