James K. Wilkerson, Sr. 89, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, passed away April 20, 2026, in High Springs, FL.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Madeline’s Catholic Church on June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
James was born in Pocahontas to Fred and Grace Wilkerson on November 14, 1936. He left home and joined the United States Air Force as a photographer and he ended up in Homestead, Florida where he met his wife, Edith. He served for 4 years. James then went on to learn carpentry, learning everything he could. James joined Operating Engineers Local 487 landing his dream job as a Crane Operator until he retired.
He loved his family, motorcycles, airboats, and received his solo licenses to fly and of course build things.
James is preceded in death by both parents, Fred and Grace; brothers, Wear and Jerry Dee and great grandson Greer Kenneth Wilkerson.
James is survived by his wife Edith for almost 68 years of High Springs, FL. Daughters, Teresa (Joseph) Hoffman of Newberry, FL, Grace (Richard) Hamilton of Jacksonville, FL; sons, James K. Wilkerson Jr. of High Springs, FL, Dominic (Jennifer) Wilderson of Alachua, FL, and Jason (Kristen) Wilkerson of Crystal River, FL; sisters, Mary Winebaugh and Carolyn Stevens of Pocahontas, AR; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
