Obituary

Mr. James David Pugh of Harrisburg, departed this life August 18, 2016, at his home at the age of 67. He was born September 17, 1948 in Jonesboro, AR, the son of the late C.W. Pugh and Jean Polk Pugh. Jimmy was a wild child. He loved fast cars and lived life hard in his younger years. He, his brothers and brother-in-law loved to drag race in his youth. He would tune the car and R.H. would drive it and never lost a race that we know of. He mellowed a little in his later years. He loved music and kung fu and sometimes pretended he was a kung fu expert. His sons remember him chasing them around the house kung fuing them when they were kids and laugh about it to this day. His refuge was his home and the shop and he didn't stray far from either. If you wanted to see him, you went to his house or shop. He had a phobia about being away from either. He taught all of us a lot. He taught his sister, Jill, how to whistle, drive a standard, turn cartwheels, etc. when she was young. He would be pleased when any one came to the shop and would explain things to us and liked to show his inventions. He would sit in the shop and think about things while listening to Celine Dion songs. He did not hunt or fish and was kind to animals, especially his dog Chewy. He had a quick wit and made people that hung around at the shop laugh. He loved his wife Brenda, his sons, Jason and Jaime, and his family dearly and they knew this. Jimmy was hard for some people to understand, but those who knew him well and loved him, understood him. He lived his life the way he wanted to. He will be dearly missed by all of us. He is survived by two sons, Jason (Brandi) Pugh of Benton and Jamie Pugh of Harrisburg, five sisters, Judy (John) Bowman of Horn Lake, MS, Jeanette Pugh, Janice Pugh, Jill Brown, Joyce (Mike) Bowlin, all of Harrisburg, two brothers, John (Pam) Pugh and Joe Pugh, both of Harrisburg, five grandchildren, Garrett Pugh, Emmalice Pugh, Landon Pugh, Adline Pugh and Olivia Pugh, all of Benton, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Willis Cemetery with Rev. Phillip Jenkins officiating. There will be no visitation.
