Jonesboro- James Murl Prescott, 88, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at NEA Baptist Hospital.

He was born in Jonesboro to James and Ruby Prescott. He was a member of the United States Army for three years. After leaving the Army he worked at Angelo's, Scott plumbing, and Phillips construction. James retired from the Human Development Center after 25 years.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Martha Prescott; his children: Denise (Jim) Whaley, Mark (Terry) Needham, Michelle (Byron) McCrackin, and Michael Prescott; grandchildren: Tabitha Whaley (Devin Weaver), Chelsey (James) Gann, Jared West, Brandy (James) Turner, Josh (Lainee) McCrackin, and MaKayla McCrackin (Brandon Lankford); eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother: Charles (Ruth) Prescott.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Ruby Prescott; son, Kevin Prescott and grandson, Justin West.

Services will be private under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
