Jim is preceded in death by both his parents, his son, Gary Michael Osborn and infant daughter, Laura Osborn. He attended Arkansas State University where he received a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Jim was a founding partner of Osborn Osborn, CPA's, and PLLC celebrating fifty years in 2008. He was dedicated to his profession and to the welfare of each individual or company that entrusted his services. The James G. Osborn Scholarship in Accounting was established at Arkansas State University by an anonymous Jonesboro couple to honor his service and friendship. From his late teenage years until later in his adult life, he was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church Choir. He was as passionate about singing as he was his profession and fishing. He sang for many weddings of family and friends including his own two daughter's weddings. Jim was a member of the Jonesboro Bass Club for many, many years. There were very few weekends in his life that he didn't have a rod reel in his hands, a string of fish in the "live well" and a tournament trophy to add to his collection. He was a Korean War Veteran, having served as an Artillery Forward Observer and later as a Battery Commander. Jim was awarded the Bronze Star. He remained in the Active Army Reserve until November 10, 1966 when he elected to transfer to the Retired Reserve with the rank of Major. Jim wrote and had published, "Grandfather Soldier", recounting his life and time of service in the Korean War for his grandchildren to know and share his stories. He served on the Board of Trustees of Holy Angels Convent for many years. Jim was a Conservative Republican and a Patriot. He loved his Country and had strong opinions on our government and its place in our lives. He was a man of many words and often expressed them in letters to the editors of newspapers. He was a force to be reckoned with when it came to his convictions. He led by example. He believed that a man was as good as his word and Dads word was one to be trusted. By his example, we learned life lessons that made us who we are as individuals and as a family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and friend. He was loved beyond measure. He was our "Big Jim". Rosary and visitation will be Sunday, June 7th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home, 300 W. Matthews Ave in Jonesboro.
