Bay- James Bonna Nix, 91, departed this life on Friday, October 25, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born to the late Bonna Ellis and Lillie Hancock Nix on October 10, 1928 in Mississippi. James was the middle child of eight. The family moved to Bay when James was a child and he spent the remainder of his life there. He was a faithful member and Deacon of the Bay Church of Christ as long as his health permitted.

In 1952, James married Helen Bird and they began a large family. During their marriage, James spent two years in the United Stated Army and worked for the Singer Company in Trumann doing woodwork for the sewing machine cabinets until he retired. James enjoyed spending time with his family, watching sporting events and the animals outside his window.

James was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mary Addison, Avanelle Stone and Joyce Byrd; two brothers, Floyd and Lloyd "Fat" Nix.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Helen; sons, Gary Nix (Janet) of Brownfield, Texas, Bobby Nix (Elaine) of Poughkepsie, Kevin Nix (Marie) of Pocahontas and Glen Nix of Bay; a daughter, Rebecca Williams (Thomas) of Bay; two sisters, Effie Hathcoat of Brookland and Dorothy Webb of Jonesboro; fifteen grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Monday, October 28, 2019 at Gregg - Langford Bookout Funeral Home.

A celebration of his life will be 10:00 am Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Bay Church of Christ with Tony Brewer officiating. Interment will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are the grandchildren and honorary pallbearers are Gaylon, Jim, Mike, Tyler McDaniel and Mitchell Long.
