Obituary

James W. Nipps, 86, of Rockford, died on December 22, 2018 in Amberwood Care Center after a brief illness.

James was born January 27, 1932 in Pocahontas, AR, the son of Henry and Lillie (Songer) Nipps. Married Claudine J. Rice in Pocahontas in 1955. She predeceased him May 6, 1996. Formerly employed by Rockford Clutch and Powertrain for 34 years. Veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. Lifetime member of LLL Society and UAW #803.

Survived by his sons, David and Dennis Nipps both of Rockford; grandchildren, Brandy (Brian) Kellar of Rockford, Zandra (Stephan) Northrup of Byron, IL, and Bryan (Christine) Nipps of Woodstock, IL; great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Evan, and Richard; brothers, Charles (Lavonda) Nipps and Junior Nipps, all of Pocahontas. The family would like to thank all his friends including his special cousin, Norman Jones. Predeceased by his parents, wife, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers.

Gathering of Family \u0026 Friends was on December 27, 2018 in Sundberg Funeral Home, Rockford, IL. Graveside service and burial will be on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. with Dewayne Smith officiating in Randolph Memorial Gardens, Pocahontas, AR.
