Obituary

Jonesboro- James "Jim" McDaniel, 81, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 at Flo Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born May 22, 1933 in Jonesboro to the late Stanford and Louise McDaniel. Jim graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1952 and joined the Army Special Forces Green Beret during the Korean War. After he came home to Arkansas State University, where he was on the football and track teams and a member of the Pi Kapp Alpha. He was an avid duck hunter and fisherman and a private pilot. After marrying, Jim became an exceptional bowler, and was inducted into Arkansas Bowlers Hall of Fame. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jo Ann McDaniel; two sons, Timothy McDaniel (Nikki) and Stan McDaniel all of Jonesboro; a sister-in-law, Wanda Thompson of Jonesboro; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be 11:00 am Monday, December 15, 2014 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Cathy Holler officiating. Burial to follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors. The family with receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Gregg -Langford Bookout Funeral Home at 300 W. Matthews Ave. in Jonesboro. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Bill Hurt, Tony Pardew, Vic Ditta, Bob Trout, Larry Grisham, Eric Ford, George Krennerich and Jerry Brackett.
