Trumann- James Billy Looney, 81, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at NEA Baptist Hospital.
He was born March 15, 1939 in Caraway to the late Rufus James and Lorine Grimes Looney. James proudly served in the United States Navy. He was the owner and operator of James B. Looney Trucking for forty years. He was a member of Melton Ave Church of Christ. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved joking and laughter. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed bird watching. He will be remembered as a loving, generous and giving man. Highlight of his day in the late afternoon and evenings was to call his children.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Linda Looney; his children, Dennis Looney (Anna) of Trumann, Wanda Looney Bane (Charles) of Springfield, Missouri, Jimmy Looney (Lisa Marie) of Seymour, Missouri and Lisa Gaye Looney (Greg Norris) of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Jordan Looney, Ethan Looney, Mallory Looney, Logan Looney, Hayden Looney and Hunter Bane and a great-grandchild, Solan Looney and several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Lee Ballard and Carolyn Kinney; six brothers, Samuel Laverne Looney, Ranual Looney, Johnny Looney, Jerry Looney, Bobby Joe Looney and Roger Looney.
A graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Matt Flad officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are his grandchildren.
