Bono- James Harold Lea, 81, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at NEA Baptist Hospital. He was born November 29, 1934 in Black Oak to the late William and Margie Penter Lea. He graduated Lepanto High School in 1952 and from Arkansas State College with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. Mr. Lea taught science at Caraway High School for two years and was also a farmer for several years. He retired from Riceland Foods and worked at Enterprise. He was a private pilot and enjoyed flying and playing golf. James was a member of the Nettleton Church of Christ for thirty-seven years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He is survived by his daughter and husband, Sonja and Winston Bruce of Evans, Georgia; two sisters, Shelba Jean Lea and Alicia A. Howell both of Caraway; two grandchildren, Katie Thompson (Frank) of Clarksville, Tennessee and Grayson Lea Bruce of Evans; aunt and uncle, George and Pauline Penter of Jonesboro; a niece, Brandi Wallace (Matt) of Black Oak; a great-niece, Emily Wallace and great-nephew, Ty Wallace. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Lea. A celebration of his life will be 2:00 pm Friday, March 11, 2016 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Jimmy Young officiating. Burial will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until time of service Friday at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ike Daughtery, Paul Harrison, Rusty Trevathan, Bill Lester, Tim Gill and Jackie Leonard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Paragould Children's Home.
