Obituary
Jonesboro-James William Lansford passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016.
He was born the only son of Hugh Harry "Bud" and Mary Eva "Peggy" Lansford on the first of September 1939 in Jonesboro.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Lansford worked many years at General Electric and had also been employed at Arkansas Equipment. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking especially with his father-in-law, Roy Glenn. James was a gentle man who lived his life centered around his family. His favorite type of travel was cruising to different countries. As a longtime member of the Southwest Church of Christ he had served as a worship service song leader and leader of BK15 church group. He also enjoyed being a member of the ASU Faculty Gourmet Group.
Mr. Lansford is survived by his wife of 54 years, Julia Lansford, his high school sweetheart and his son, Jonathan Blake Lansford, his pride and joy; extended family members include in-laws, Danny and Joyce Glenn, Donny and Nancy Glenn and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Bud and Peggy Lansford and several aunts and uncles.
The family will receive visitors from 1:00 until time for services at 2:30 pm Friday, December 2, 2016 at Southwest Church of Christ.
A celebration of his life will be 2:30 pm Friday at Southwest Church of Christ with Dr. Jimmy Adcox officiating. Interment will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Gary Ezell, Jerry Koster, David Veara, John McKeel, Dr. Troy Vines, Goley Atkinson, and Gene McDaniel. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Pat Qualls, Danny and Sherry Ewing, Don and Pat Cooper, Billy Holland, Buddy Powell, Christy McKeel, Kay Veara, Sharon Vines, J.T. and Sybel Barr, David and Robin Yates, Jim and Nancy Corter, Jim and Lola Penny, Charlie and Sandie Harper, Randy and Suzanne Hinton, Liz Ann Smith, Linda Ezell, Bob and Marcella Watson, Dr. Larry and Carol Hinck, Dr. Dewey and Teresa Sifford, Dr. Bob and Karen Bennett, Dr. Marty and Betsy Huss, Carolyn Koster, Dr. Charles and Saundra Yarger, Aden and Carol Johnson.
