James Lee "Jim" Hall Sr. of Jonesboro passed away September 12, 2014. He was born April 11, 1927 in Flint, Michigan to Joe A. and Myrtle Cook Hall of Kennett, Missouri. Jim was an Eagle Scout and graduated from high school in 1945 in Kennett. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in July of 1944, and served in Germany near the end of WWII, receiving a Victory Medal and a Meritorious Unit Award. He worked for many years as a commercial pilot in Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri and served as an officer with the Aerial Applicators Association. He recently retired from the Continental Telephone Directory Company in Jonesboro after nearly 20 years of service as a client relations specialist. Jim was an active member of the Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Jonesboro and particularly enjoyed holding the babies in the nursery and playing in the weekly domino game with many of his closest friends. He was an avid reader and a proud veteran who was recently selected to participate in the "Honor Flight" visiting the World War II monument and other historic sites in Washington, D.C. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Allison Hall, his parents Joe and Myrtle Hall, and a brother John Hall. He is survived by his brother Jean Hall of Kennett, Missouri; his brother Richard Hall and wife Carolyn of Suitland, Maryland; his brother Robert Hall and wife Celeste of St. Charles, Missouri; his sister Rebecca Emery of Wichita, Kansas; his daughter Elizabeth and her husband Phillip Estrada of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his daughter Deborah and son-in-law Glin Miller of Jonesboro; and his son Jim Hall Jr. and wife Mary Margaret of Rogers, Arkansas. Jim is also survived by six grandsons, Flip Estrada, Steven Estrada, John Miller, Lee Hall, Jared Hall and Clay Hall and 4 great grandchildren, Meghan Estrada, Rylee Estrada, Morgan Estrada and Blaine Miller. There will be a visitation with the family beginning at 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 18 followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. to be held in the sanctuary at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 1910 Disciple Drive in Jonesboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cornerstone United Methodist Church of Jonesboro.
