James Henry Hughes Sr. 80, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018 at his home in Smithville.

James was born April 23, 1938 in Ravenden Springs, AR to the late Thomas Jefferson and Nettie Evelyn Bennett Hughes. James was always there to help others and will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vernadean Hughes; sister, Betty Richardson; brother, Ronnie Hughes; brothers-in-law, Roger Pickett and Maylon White.

He is survived by his children, James Henry Hughes Jr. of Batesville, AR and Bonnie Sue Hughes Mills of Smithville, AR; grandsons, Timothy Collin Mills and Dakota Jordan Mills of Smithville; brothers, Thomas Dail (Alice) Hughes of Annieville, Buddy (Cathrine) Hughes of Ravenden; sister, Imogene White of Trumann; and brother-in-law, Lindel Richardson; sisters-in-law, Ann Babin and Cathy Hughes.

A celebration of life service will be held on December 2, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Clear Spring Church near Black Rock. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
