Jonesboro- James Thomas Hawkins, 85, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at St. Bernards Medical Center.
He was born March 30, 1933 in Jonesboro to the late Thomas and Bessie Childers Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for four years. He sold insurance for over sixty years and enjoyed playing basketball at the YMCA. He will be remembered as a loving husband, dad, brother, papa and pop.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Ann Meharg Hawkins; his children, Ronald James Hawkins (Karen) and Ginger Hawkins Davis; a step-son, Bryan Meharg; a sister, Doris Alger; nine grandchildren, Dillon (Tory), Sarah, Matthew, Jon, Jake, Samantha (Tyler), Stephanie (Brandon), Angel and Mason; seven great-grandchildren, Josslyn, Axyl, Atlas, Keegen, Weston, Rylan and Grayson.
He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Alisa Hawkins and Cindy Hawkins and two sisters, Lois Haney and Patsy Nichols.
A celebration of his life will be 2:00 pm Friday, October 5, 2018 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Hutchison officiating. Interment will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until time of service at the funeral home.
