James H. Hawkins, 82, of Jonesboro, Arkansas passed away peacefully with his children by his side, on July 6, 2025 at St. Bernard's Medical Center.
He was born to the late James W. (Red) and Lucille Hawkins in Jonesboro on August 2, 1942.
He was a graduate of Jonesboro High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy, stationed in Japan, as a P03 during the Vietnam War from 1961 - 1965. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. He was retired from WalMart Automotive and was of the Methodist faith.
James enjoyed building, restoring, and tinkering with cars and engines and loved hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and attending their activities.
He is survived by his daughter, Chrystal Glisson of Jonesboro; a son, Michael (Sherri) Hawkins of Navarre, Florida; three grandchildren, Jacob Glisson, Sarah Glisson, and Victoria Hawkins; two great grandchildren, Natalie Glisson and Levi Glisson; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jimmie and William Johnson, Jr. of Wynne, AR, and a brother and sister.
James is proceeded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Martha June Hawkins; and his grand-daughter Rachel Glisson.
Burial will be private under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home, and lasting memorials may be made to the National Alzheimer's Association.
