Mr. James Edward George, of Jonesboro, AR, departed this life on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro at the age of 85.

He was born on January 4, 1940 in Marked Tree, AR, the son of the late James Homer George and Nellie Pauline Tillery George.

James retired from General Motors after 45 years of service.  He was a crane operator for the locomotive department. He loved spending time with his kids and other family members and was loved by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings. He is survived by three children, Shannon Fast and her husband Lonnie of Denver, CO, Lisa George of Denver, CO, and James George and his wife Cheri of Chicago, IL.  He also leaves behind one sister, Doris Covelli of Harrisburg, four grandchildren, one great grandchild and numerous nephews and nieces.

Funeral services have been set for 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2025, at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg, with Ricky Dobbins officiating.   Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday just prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m.  There will be no committal service.  A private burial will be held at a later date and time.
