James “Ed” Edward Foster of Jonesboro, Arkansas, departed this life on October 5, 2026, at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, TN at the age of 90.
He was born January 13, 1936, in Memphis, TN, the son of Jeff Foster and Effie Long Foster.
Ed is an Army Veteran, having served in Viet Nam and the end of the Korean War. While in the Army, he ran the worldwide communications network. After Major Foster retired from the military, he opened his own business operating an Amsoil Distributorship. He was a pilot, flying crop dusters, airplanes and trained pilots for America West Airlines. He is preceded in death by his son, James E Foster, Jr; a brother, Elmo Foster; 2 sisters, Lynn McCamis and Anne Jones.
He is survived by his wife Elsie Cole Foster of the home; 3 daughters of Ed and Lillian, Rita Carbaugh of Chambersburg, PA, Connie Baker of Colorado Springs, CO and Pamela Foster of Peyton, CO. 4 stepdaughters of Ed and Elsie, Debbie Clem of Brookland, AR, Sharon Liles of Jonesboro, AR, Stephanie Horton of Mitchell, GA and Rena Turner of Stapleton, GA. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services are at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2026, in the funeral home chapel, Burial will follow with full military honors in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Gregg-Weston Funeral Home. Friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. to time of service.
