Mr. J. W. Poynor, son of the late David Alpheus and Oma Sides Poynor, was born April 14, 1925 in Maynard. He departed this life January 20th at his home in Mesquite, TX. Mr. Poynor served with the US Navy in W. W. II. His wife, Lois Maxine Shaver Poynor, and two sisters, Dean Swindle and Virginia Fern Ostrander, also preceded him in death. He is survived by two sons, Anthony Poynor of Carrollton, TX and Marshall Alan Poynor of Ft. Worth, TX, two sisters, Beatrice Lapresto of Austin, TX and Ima Jean Giesen of Mesquite, TX, eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10am Friday in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Randy Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 Thursday at the funeral home
