Mr. Ivery Carl Sample, Jr, of Harrisburg, departed this life Tuesday evening, February 19, 2019, at the NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, at the age of 69.
He was born March 1, 1949 in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late Ivery Carl Sample and Mary Cecelia Griffin Sample.
Ivery moved to the Harrisburg area at a young age and was a 1967 graduate of Harrisburg High School. Following school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and served as an air cargo specialist while enlisted. He served for his country for 3 ½ years and was a Vietnam Veteran. Following the Air Force he went to trade school in Michigan and worked in construction. He loved to hunt and especially loved riding his motorcycle. He was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sandra Eskridge and two nieces and nephews. He is survived by two sons, Carl Ivery Sample and Demond Kreem Sample, two stepchildren, Ingrid Pollock and David Pollock, all of Detroit, MI, four sisters, Evelyn Malone, Elaine Sample, and Hattie Brunson, all of Jonesboro, and Clara Brunson of Kerville, TX, two brothers, Birlus Brunson of Harrisburg and Charles Sample of Vellejo, CA, one half brother, Ivery Carl Sample of N.C., two half sisters, Yolanda Sample of Little Rock and Cynthia Sample of N.C., and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, February 27th, 11:00 a.m., at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg. Interment will follow in the Arkansas Veteran\u0027s Cemetery at Birdeye. Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday morning, 10:00 a.m. till service time.
