Jonesboro- Irma Evelyn Sharp, 90, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.

Irma was born in Jonesboro on April 8, 1928 to the late Charley and Era Pierce. She was a homemaker and a farm partner with Henry on the farm and was a wise business manager.

She married her childhood sweetheart Henry Paul Sharp on January 27, 1945 and enjoyed seventy years together. She followed Henry in his World War II service to San Francisco where he was stationed when she was sixteen years old. They returned to Jonesboro where she worked serving and helping people at various jobs and obtained their own farm. She was a precious loving mother to Barbara her only child and loving grandmother to Jenifer, Jeremy and Jonathan.

Irma loved people and was always helpful, fun loving and generous with those in need and her family. Irma and Henry loved going to the lake, fishing and camping with their special friends, Roger and Betty Faust. Irma was a room mother, seamstress and enjoyed cooking. She was the oldest member of Big Creek Valley Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Jerry) Welch of West Memphis; three grandchildren, Jenifer (John) Paschall of Paris, Tennessee, Jeremy Welch of West Memphis and Jonathan (Pam) Welch of Oakland, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren, Hannah and Luke Paschall and Abigail and Matthew Welch; two brothers, Charles Pierce and Herbert (Mary) Pierce and sister-in-law, Charlene Pierce all of Jonesboro; several nieces and nephews.

Irma was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Sharp and two brothers, Thurmond Pierce and Curtis Pierce and sister-in-law, Jane Pierce.

A celebration of her life will be 1:00 pm Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Gipson officiating. Burial will follow at Keller's Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jeremy Welch, Jonathan Welch, John Paschall, Luke Paschall, Kenny Hendrix and Kaleb Hendrix and honorary pallbearers are Jerry Welch, Will Pierce, David Pierce, Roger Faust, Charles Pierce, Herbert Pierce, Larry Sharp, Eddie Garrett, Butch Fergerson, Matthew Henry Pierce, Jimmy Thompson, Dennis Gibson, Freddie Ford and Glenn Thompson.

Lasting memorials may be sent to Big Creek Valley Baptist Church or Cathedral Baptist Church or Kellers Chapel Cemetery.
