Gassville- Mrs. Irl Luella Martin, 76, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014. She was born April 11, 1938 in Oregon County, Missouri to the late Arlie and Eunice Hays. Upon graduation from Couch High School moved to Jonesboro to attend Beauty School. While in school she met and married Charles Martin and they made their home in Jonesboro. He preceded her in death in 1997. She was a retired beautician and worked most of her career at Magic Hour Beauty Shop which she also owned for several years. She was a member of the Nettleton Baptist Church, where she was active in her Sunday School class and singing in the choir. She loved spending time with her family, friends and also her church family. She loved her fifty years of doing hair and making "her ladies" feel and look beautiful. She was also preceded in death by a step-mother, Laverne Hays and a brother, Raymond Hays. She is survived by her daughter, Sharlene Martin (Dave Blume) of Lakeview; a grandson and his wife, Nick and Charlotte McGowan of Bono; a granddaughter, Mandy Williams (Brad Holloway) of Puxico, MO; three sisters, Carolee Barton and Betty Hendrix (Bill) of Thayer, MO and Reva Baker (Sherman) of Ozark, MO; a sister-in-law, Reverta Hays of Poplar Bluff, MO and several adoring nieces and nephews. A celebration her life will be 10:00 am Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Loren Barton officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 pm at Ary Town Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Thayer, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday, August 1, 2014 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home at 300 W. Matthews Ave in Jonesboro. Lasting memorials may be sent to Nettleton Baptist Church, the Alzheimer's Foundation or charity of givers choice.
