MONETTE " Ione Harrell Taylor Brown, 83, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was born on Aug. 5, 1930, in Macey to the late Roy and Minnie Pitts Harrell. Mrs. Ione taught at Black Oak, Childress and Monette for more than 30 years and was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church of Macey and then Monette. Ione was an active member of the United Methodist Women, the Alpha Nu Chapter of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sororiety and the Arkansas Teachers Association. She is survived by her husband, Jodie Brown; two daughters and their husbands, Rhonda Taylor and Mike Sandifer of Washington, D.C., and Nikki and Allen Dewitt of Monette; four grandchildren, Mary and Samuel Sandifer, Logan and Laci Dewitt; a great-grandchild, Cameron; two brothers, David and Joe Harrell, both of Monette; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Taylor; a sister, Martha Jane Hout; two brothers, Jack and Roy Glenn Harrell.
A celebration of her life will be 11:00 am, Tuesday March 3, 2014 at Monette United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Reed and Rev. Diane Wimberley officiating. Burial will follow at Macey Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Sunday at Gregg Funeral Home and 10:00 until time of service Tuesday. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Keven Varner, Griffin Varner, Barry LaFarlette, Glenn Harrell, Lyle Malloy, and Dennis Gathright. Members of the United Methodist Church in Monette will serve as honorary pallbearers. Lasting memorials may be sent to Monette United Methodist Church, St. Jude Children\u0027s Research Hospital or Arkansas Children\u0027s Hospital.
