Jonesboro- Ida Kay Shelby, 71, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 at St. Bernard's Medical Center.
She was born January 10, 1946 to the late Virgil Wheeler and Essie Campbell Wheeler in Lake City.
Mrs. Shelby was a cook at Westside Elementary School. She enjoyed coloring, arts and crafts, cooking and baking for her family and was a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her husband, children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Bushong; and a brother-in-law, James Bushong and a great-grandson, Maddox Winford.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Shelby of the home; a son, Joe Jefferson Shelby Jr. of Memphis, TN; a daughter, Missy Louann Winford and her husband Jackie of Lake City; a brother, Tommy Wheeler and his wife June of Bono; three grandchildren, Christopher Winford of Jonesboro, Abra Cantrell and Cole Winford both of Lake City; seven great-grandchildren, Drake Winford, River Winford, Lilliemay Marie Winford, Benelli Winford, Sara Nunnely, Cadance Cantrell and Lillian Cantrell.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home 300 W. Matthews.
A Celebration of her life will be 2:00 pm Tuesday with Rev. Randy Stimach officiating at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Pine Log Cemetery near Brookland.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Richie Shelby, Richard Shelby, Cole Winford, Cletus Meaders, Gary Thomas and Jimmy Andrews. Mark Nichols and Jackie Winford will serve as honorary pallbearers.
