Ida May Ann Weatherford, 90, of Pocahontas passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at her home. She was born March 7, 1933 to the late Jesse B. Edwards and Mabel Little Edwards in Madison County, Il.
Upon graduating from high school in Hillview, IL, Ida May moved to St. Louis and began working at St. Anthony's Hospital at the age of 17, where her mother worked at a registered nurse. From that point on she worked in some aspect of the medical field. Working as an Emergency room technician for St. John's Hospital or in the office management in doctors' offices. She retired as a manager of patient accounts from Barnes Hospital and retired to Randolph County, AR per her husband's request. She and her husband, Carl, raised their family in St. Louis, MO. As a family they were active in church, both teaching Sunday School together. They continued their faithfulness to God and church after retiring to Maynard and Pocahontas. She was a member of Apostolic Faith Church.
Ida May was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mabel Edwards; husband, Carl M. Weatherford; granddaughter, Shannon Weatherford; brother, David Weinmann; stepbrother, Robert Weinmann.
She is survived by her children, Greg (Sheryl) Weatherford of the Philippines, Carla A. Weatherford of Pocahontas and Tim Weatherford of St. Louis, MO.; Siblings, Ruth Larsen of White Hall, IL., and Paul (Sandra) Weinmann of East Alton, IL.
A Graveside service will be held Friday September 22, 2023 at the Maynard Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. with Brother Marvin Marshall officiating.
