Obituary

Woodstock, GA- Howard Dillard Franklin, 85, passed away Monday, September 7, 2015 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born September 10, 1929 in Livingston, Tennessee to the late Benton and Emily Franklin. He was a longtime Woodstock, Georgia resident. He was superintendent of construction for MD Hodges and other companies, a member of the Iron Workers Union, a member of Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Georgia and an Eastern Star member. He loved riding his Harley and had a soft spot for children. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He was survived by a daughter, Mary Jo Franklin of Jonesboro; godchildren, Robin Cook (Mike) of Holly Springs, GA and Donnie Gwaltney of Woodstock, GA; grandchildren, Dwight Ferguson (Tonya) of Black Rock, AR, Christina Mason of Jonesboro and Victoria Waldrop Norvell of Kennesaw, GA; a brother, Charlie Franklin of Crossville, Tennessee; a sister, Mamie Montgomery of Crossville, Tennessee. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Atwood Franklin; his brothers and sisters, Henry Franklin, Mary Stepek, Ella Stewart, Gertrude Lewis, Wayne Franklin and Essie Hogue. Memorial services will be at a later datein Tennesse. Lasting memorials may be sent to St. Judes or Southwest Church of Christ.
