Horace Edward (H. E.) "Dude" Damron, 95, passed away Saturday morning, February 10, at his home in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Dude was born January 4, 1923, in Vanndale, Arkansas to Henry "Ed" and Floy Bullard Damron. After residing in Woodruff County, he moved to Jonesboro in 1961.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Minnie Ruth Bullard Damron; one son, Johnny Damron; one daughter, Vicki McMinn Jimerson; his parents; four sisters and one brother.
Dude was a member of Main and Oak Church of Christ, Frierson Street Church of Christ, and Southwest Church of Christ for over 57 years.
Dude worked as the Farm Manager of Dixie Plantation, Dixie, Arkansas prior to moving to Jonesboro. In 1961, Dude began his construction career at Guaranty Mortage and Real Estate, followed by employment with James Brown Construction. In 1966, he formed Damron Construction Company, the same year his dear friends, Roy Adams and Gaither Cooper, formed Adams \u0026 Cooper Plumbing, Inc they were each other\u0027s first customers.
Dude\u0027s greatest joy and love was spending time with his family, with his grands working by his side in the construction business, or learning how to drive a tractor at a young age. Sunday "after church lunch at Granny and Grandpa\u0027s" was a family tradition, and after Granny passed away, Dude continued to cook a full meal for his family every Sunday.
Dude enjoyed fishing for crappie with his wife, Minnie, and gardening. Every spring he planted and maintained 3 large gardens, and went on to win blue ribbons at the Craighead County Fair for his 100 lb watermelons, sweet corn, dill pickles, and his famous chocolate pie, a cherished gift enjoyed by his many friends.
Dude leaves behind one son, Jim (Carole) Damron; grandchildren, Warren (Jamie) Damron; and Chris (Breanne) Damron, all of Jonesboro; Chelley Jimerson (Danny) Counce of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; and Jimmy (Shanna Rogers) Jimerson, of D\u0027Iberville, Mississippi; and great grand-children, Jayden, Katie, Caleb, (twins) John Mark and Lyla Damron, and Reese and Mason Damron, all of Jonesboro; Danielle Jimerson, Courtney Jimerson and Madison Jimerson Brown (Trevor) of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, as well as beloved nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home, with services following at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Officiating will be and Richard Akins and Dr. Jimmy Adcox.

Pallbearers are Warren Damron, Chris Damron, Robert Clay, Corey Herndon, Jim Bob Jordan, and David Taylor.
Honorary Pallbearers are Becky McDaniel Ewart, Pam Tiner, Gaylon Cooper, Mike Coy, John Trout, Steve Treadway, Dr. Michael Isaacson, Dr. James Sanders, and Dr. Robert Taylor.
