Obituary

Mr. Homer Eugene Griffin of Harrisburg, Arkansas, departed this life Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the V.A. Medical Center in Memphis, at the age of 59. He was born April 3, 1955 in Marked Tree, AR, the son of Homer P. "Jack" Griffin and Ethel Hayes Griffin. Homer was an Air Force Veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was an aircraft welder while serving in the military. He was also a truck driver for many years and worked for U-haul for 16 years. He was a member and supporter of the NRA and loved music, animals and fishing. He married Teresa Miller on February 20, 2004 and they enjoyed 10 years together. He was preceded in death by his father, Homer "Jack" Griffin and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Teresa of the home, his mother, Ethel Farris and her husband Carl of Harrisburg, two daughters, Michelle Schnicke (Chuck) of Kentwood, Michigan and Tina Pigeon of Michigan, two sons, Bryan Griffin (Laura) and Adam Griffin (Stephanie), all of Jacksonville, FL, two stepchildren, Melissa Sisson (Harold) of Hamilton, Michigan and Joshua Miller of Zeeland, Michigan, one sister, Terri Vodry (John) of Quilcele, Washington, a step-brother, Phillip Farris (Kathy) of Hamilton, IN, a step-sister, Elizabeth Ann Farris of Sims, IL, a sister-in-law, Ruth Blanton (Chris) of Holland, Michigan, two brothers-in-law, William Miller (Sandy) of KS and Calvin Miller (Tammy) of Las Vegas, NV, and 15 grandchildren. Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg with Pastor Joseph Culberson officiating. Interment will follow in the AR State Veterans Cemetery at Birdeye with full military honors. Visitation will be Friday, noon till service time, at Gregg-Weston Funeral Home. Those serving as pallbearers will be Sheriff Larry Mills, Carl Farris, Ted Ford, James McNabb, and Eddie Mason. Honorary pallbearers will be William Miller, Calvin Miller, Phillip Farris and Russell Hoooker. Those wishing to send memorials are asked to consider the Disabled American Veterans.
