Hilton Booth Hurdle, 77, of Weiner, Arkansas, passed away on March 25, 2025, at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born on January 14, 1948, and grew up in Trumann, Arkansas. Hilton was a proud graduate of Trumann High School, where he became a standout athlete, earning All-State recognition in both basketball and football. His love for sports continued into college, where he played basketball at Williams Baptist College before earning a Bachelor of Science in Education from Arkansas State University.
Hilton enjoyed a career in education at Harrisburg High School. While there he coached sports and taught classes and touched the lives of countless students and athletes. He was well-loved for his dedication, his kindness, and his ability to connect with everyone he met.
Hilton was known for his friendly nature and his love for people. Hilton never met a stranger and made lasting friendships throughout his life. His family joked about how anywhere they went he would run into an old friend. He had a great love for the outdoors, particularly hunting, and he cherished the time spent with his close friends at their deer camp. Hilton also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and spent many enjoyable moments with his riding buddies.
In 1977, Hilton married the love of his life, Ina Raye Downing. They moved to Weiner, where they farmed together for 45 years. Hilton deeply loved his family and took great pride in them.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ina Raye Hurdle; his son, Matt Hurdle and wife Amanda; his daughter, Alexis (Hurdle) Besharse and husband John; and his beloved grandchildren who gave him much joy, Knox Hurdle and Campbell Besharse. Hilton is also survived by his sisters, Denise Chaney and Gina Dycus; his brother, Melvin Dycus, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joy Easter, and his cousin, Joan Rutherford, who was like a sister to him.
Hilton's memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by his family, church, friends, and community. Hilton leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and caring for others that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Hilton was a devoted member and elder of Weiner Christian Church, a place that was deeply important to him. His faith and church family were the central part of his life.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Weiner Christian Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by the service at 12:00 pm. The service will be conducted by the church minister, Ben Stover, and church elders Gene Winters, Arthur Booth, and Bear Craft. A graveside service will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Weiner.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Lenny Johnson, Donnie Scott, Melvin Dycus, Bear Craft, Seth Woolridge, and Rives Henderson.
Honorary pallbearers include Randy McClung, Ronnie Adams, Steve Hutchison, Larry Henderson, and Brent Henderson.
The family asks that Weiner Christian Church or the Weiner Fire Department be considered for memorials. Services will be under the direction of Gregg-Langford-Bookout Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
