Jonesboro - Henry Paul Sharp, 88, passed away on March 7, 2015, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Mr. Sharp was born at Hoxie, on Dec 28, 1926 to the late Harry and Louise Smith Sharp. He was a WWII Army veteran and was stationed at Ft. Chaffee and Camp Beale, San Francisco, California, with a Hospital unit. Henry recently celebrated his 70th wedding anniversary with his childhood sweetheart Irma Pierce Sharp who he married Jan 27, 1945. After his honorable discharge from the Army he returned to Jonesboro and worked at a mattress factory and the RC Cola plant before getting his start into farming with Clyde Keller. He bought his own farm and produced rice, soybeans and cotton until he retired in 1992. Henry loved people and was always helpful, fun loving and generous with those in need and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and relatives. In later years he liked to garden and share his produce with friends and family, oversee the farm, and spend time at the lake. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a skilled duck hunting guide on the Keller Lake in younger years. Henry was a faithful member of Big Creek Valley Church. He is survived by his loving wife Irma; one daughter Barbara (Jerry) Welch; three grandchildren Jenifer Paschall (John) of Paris, TN, Jeremy Welch of West Memphis, Jonathan (Pam) Welch of Oakland, TN; three great grandchildren Hannah and Luke Paschall, and Abigail Welch. Henry was preceded in death by his brothers and their wives, Finnard and Lacy Sharp, Staton and Dorothy Sharp and Lloyd and Eva Sharp. A celebration of his life will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Gregg Langford Bookout Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gary Gipson officiating. Burial will follow at Kellers Chapel Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from noon until 2:00 pm Wednesday at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home, 300 W.
