Monette- Helen L. Sparkman, 79, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013 at Lakeside Nursing Home in Lake City. She was born May 27, 1933 in Monette to the late Julius and Maude Eddy. She was a homemaker and enjoyed making quilts and crocheting. Mrs. Sparkman was a member of the Rowes Chapel Baptist Church, where she impacted many lives as a Sunday School teacher. She worked for Monette Manor for five years. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by husband, James Sparkman Sr.; a daughter, Carolyn Belmer of Caraway; a son and his wife, Jerry and Velenda Sparkman of Monette; six grandchildren, JJ Sparkman of Caraway, Nicholas Allen Sparkman of Monette, Melissa Belmer of San Diego, CA and Jamie Lynn Sparkman and her sisters, Jennifer and Cathy all of Jonesboro; a great-granddaughter, Amy Leeann Sparkman. She was also preceded in death by her son, James Sparkman Jr.; two sisters, Anna Lee Coble and Lodena Sparkman and a brother, Charles Eddy. A celebration of her life will be Monday, March 11, 2013at 1 p.m. at the Rowes Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Glen Hoselton officiating. Interment will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette. Visitation will be Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 5:00 until 6:00 pm at the Gregg Funeral Home in Monette. Honored to serve as pallbearers are JJ Sparkman Jr., Jerry D. Sparkman, Nicholas Allen Sparkman, Richard Sparkman, Gary Sparkman and Jackie Sparkman and as honorary pallbearers are Danny Sparkman and Lloyd Sparkman.
