Obituary

Helen Elizabeth Moore, 86, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born November 11, 1935, in Jonesboro, Arkansas to the late Harry and Louise Duke. She married James David Moore on January 15, 1955, and they only had one daughter, Lisa. Helen was a loving wife and mother who was also a homemaker. She loved fishing, hunting, sewing, her family, going to church, and her bluebirds. She became a member of Nettleton Baptist Church in October 1956. Over the years, Helen taught Sunday School, GA's, Vacation Bible School, was a choir member for many, many years, and also a greeter on Sunday mornings. Helen always had a smile on her face and would strike up a conversation with a stranger no matter where she was, trying to add positivity to a person's life, especially if they seemed discouraged. Many of her conversations included her love for God and his precious son, Jesus. Helen was certain where she would be spending eternal life and wanted others to be certain, too.

Helen is survived by her husband of 67 years, David Moore; daughter, Lisa (Mike) Phillips; grandsons, Jason Phillips, Brandon Phillips, and Jordan Phillips; great-grandchildren, Kendall Phillips, Lane Phillips, and Grayson Phillips; and a sister, Pat (George) Surbaugh. In addition to her parents, Helen was also preceded in death by a sister, Jean Hisky.

A celebration of Helen's life will be Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Nettleton Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until time of service at 3:00 pm with Bro. Stan Ballard officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
