Obituary

Hazel Eugenia "Jeannie" Pyland, 81, of Pocahontas, Arkansas passed away Friday, August 26, 2022 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Jeannie was born January 8, 1941 in Black Rock, Arkansas to the late Boyd Eugene and Hazel Maxine Hilburn Morgan. She attended Corning High School in Arkansas, and graduated from Kennett High School with honors.

In life, Jeannie was a busy contributor to the communities where she lived: She was Secretary/Treasurer for DAV Auxiliary, and enjoyed teaching Bible Class at the Church of Christ in Monette as well as being a member of the Skaggs Church of Christ in Pocahontas. Jeannie loved gardening, making cards and scrapbooking, and frequently mentioned her beloved pet mule "Kit".

Jeannie was employed variously as a payroll/timekeeper at Emerson Electric; as a bookkeeper for several small businesses over the years; bookkeeper at Jonesboro Country Club, and at the time of her death, she was secretary/treasurer for the Pocahontas Healthcare and Rehab Resident Council.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Hazel Morgan; husband, Jimmy H. Pyland; and sister, Loretta Jo Morgan.

Jeannie is survived by her daughters, Loretta (Tim) Dodd of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Sandi (Tom) Titus of Keller, TX; grandchildren, Thomas (Carolyn) Dodd of Maryland Heights, MO, Mary (Kirk) Hadler of Perryville, MO, Miranda "Stevie", and Madeline Titus of Keller, TX; great grandchildren, Trevor Dodd of Maryland Heights, MO, and Myla Hadler of Perryville, MO ; sisters, Katie (Gerald) Fears of Pocahontas, and Pattie (Wes) Lorenzo of West Chicago, IL; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 10-11:30 AM in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 11:30 AM with Gerald Fears officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Forest Cemetery at Black Rock.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Tim Dodd (son-in-law), Tom Titus (son-in-law), Thomas Dodd (grandson), Kirk Hadler (grandson-in-law), and Gage Glisson (great-nephew)

Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Randy Guntharp and Cody Simpson

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Donations DAV-Disabled American Veterans and/or the Skaggs Church of Church.
