Obituary

Pocahontas- Hatley David "D" Doan, 75, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

"D" Doan was born March 29, 1941 in Jonesboro, AR to Clarence Tanner Jr and Katherine Ring Doan.

Dave was a loving, caring, and devoted husband for 52 years. He taught 5th - 8th grade at Pocahontas Public School for 29 years. He was recognized by his students and awarded the Favorite Teacher Award while there. He served our country by joining the National Guards for 4 years. He was of Methodist faith and then attended the 1st Assembly of God Church. In his younger days he was a cowboy at heart and followed the rodeo circuit, where he competed in bull riding and bareback bronc riding. He also was an avid lover of all animals.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, George Hatley Ring, Clara Ring, C.T. Doan, and Carmen Rafferty.

He is survived by his wife, Shelba Wallin Doan of the home; brothers C.T. (Cona) Doan, C.R. (Sue) Doan, Leonard Virginia) Doan; special brother-in-law F. Mike (Karen) Wallin; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 1-2 pm at McNabb Funeral Home with a graveside service and burial beginning at 2:30 pm at Lawrence Memorial Park with Dale Hughart and Ben Bush officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to Five Rivers Animal Aid, Pocahontas, AR 72455.
