Harvey Edward Winebaugh, 83, of Pocahontas, Arkansas passed away on Thursday,September 20, 2007, at the home of his daughter in Yorkville, Illinois. Harvey was born on December 10, 1923 in Pocahontas, the son of William Roy and Dixie Ellen Winebaugh. Harvey was united in marriage to Geneva Reynolds on November 28, 1946 and spent the next 60 years together. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and friends. Racing thoroughbred horses was his other passion. Harvey joined the U.S.Army in 1944 and served in the South Pacific. After returning home he went to work in the oil fields of Kansas and Oklahoma. He retired from the Heavy Equipment Operators Local 150. He is survived by his wife, Geneva of Pocahontas; 4 children, Barbara (Dennis) Baie of Big Rock, IL., Janet Gleissner of Hoopeston, IL., Roberta (Ken) Kassinger of Yorkville, IL., and Kenneth (Cheryl) Winebaugh of Custer Park, IL. He has 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; his brothers Bill (Beverly), Gene (Mary Brooks) of Pocahontas and his sisters, Evelyn Wellner, St. Louis, MO.; Mary (Mark) Borton, Clio, MI.;Shirley (Nile) Wingler, Freeport, FL.; five sister-in-laws Vivian, Sylvia, Betty, Irma Taylor and Elveta (James) Taylor ; one brother-in-law Lum Alderks with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dixie, his sisters Pauline, Georgia and his brothers Dewie, Gerald, Duel, William Carl and Jake. Memorial visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Monday September 24, 2007, with a 10 a.m. service Tuesday September 25, 2007 in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Thomas Cemetery with military honors provided by Promberger-Traw Post #4556 of the VFW.
