Mr. Harvey S. "Pops" Williams, Jr. of Leander, TX, formerly of Harrisburg, AR, departed this life Tuesday evening, May 21, 2019, at his home, at the age of 80.
He was born October 5, 1938 in Germantown, TN, the son of the late Harvey Street Williams, Sr. and Bernice Irene Walker Williams.
Harvey was a U. S. Navy veteran having served from 1956-1960. He was the former owner and operator of H \u0026 L Trucking for 18 years. He married Linda Williams on March 9, 1983 and they enjoyed 36 years together. He was a retired police officer having worked for the Mountainburg Police Department and the Crawford County Sheriff\u0027s Office. He trained officers and was Site Supervisor at NEA Hospital for Securitas Security Systems. After retiring from law enforcement he served as Harrisburg School District Resource Officer. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, the Fault Line Riders #633 Chapter of Christian Motorcyclists Association and Gideon International. He enjoyed cooking Chinese stir fry, woodworking, motorcycles, riding his Can Am Spyder, lifting weights, watching cop shows and boxing and he loved jazz music and telling jokes. He loved all of his children, family and friends so much. His "coffee-drinking buddy", Randall, held a very special place in his heart. He always looked forward to hearing that truck pull the hill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys Safley, Dolly Williams and Mary Agnes Prescott, two brothers, Harvey Walker Williams and Thomas Harvey Williams, and one daughter, Vivian Marie Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Faye Williams of the home, four daughters, Teresa Wahl (Scott) of Fayetteville, AR, Cheryl Dixon (James) of Mabelvale, AR, Mitzie Williams of Bella Vista, AR and Emily Faye Broadway (Colby) of Leander, TX; three sons, Jason Brian McGee (Allison) of Cherry Valley, AR, Jeremy Lynn McGee (Kelli) of Little Rock, AR and Kramer Williams of Rogers, AR; two sisters, Eloise Smith of Greenwood, MS, and Margaret Jean Sims of Carmel Gardens, IN; eleven grandchildren, Audrey Thomas, Byron Skelton, Bryce Skelton, all of Fayetteville, AR; Rachel Harrison of Mabelvale, AR; Harrison McGee, Conner McGee and Maci McGee, all of Cherry Valley, AR; Tate McGee, Halle McGee and Nora McGee, all of Little Rock, AR; Oda grace Broadway of Leander, TX and five great grandchildren, Natalie Thomas, Hayden Thomas, Luke Thomas, all of Fayetteville, AR and David and Alaina Harrison, of Mabelovale, AR.
Services are set for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Harrisburg, with Bro. Leroy Franks and Bro. James Hewitt officiating. Burial will follow at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at Birdeye with full military honors. Friends may visit at the church Tuesday morning, 9:00-11:00 a.m. Gregg-Weston Funeral Home of Harrisburg is in charge of arrangements. Those serving as pallbearers will be Jason McGee, Jeremy McGee, Harrison McGee, Conner McGee, Colby Broadway and Randall Stanford. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Clem, Mike Riddle, Cody Nugent, Chris Nugent, Tony Rice, Roy Davis, Ronnie Wright, Mike Henderson, Darryl Bryant, Chrystal Bryant, Scottie Blanchard, Johnny Parnell, Jr., and the Fault Line Riders #633 Chapter of Christian Motorcycle Association. Those wishing to send memorials are asked to consider the American Heart Association, the American Kidney Association or the American Lung Association.
