Pocahontas- Harold Eugene Tyler, 92, entered into eternal peace November 5, 2014 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Harold was born April 1, 1922 in Water Valley, Arkansas to the late James Rufus and Laura Edna Privett Tyler. Harold served as a surgical technician with the 95th Infantry, the "Buckeyes," in WWII, earning a Purple Heart during his service. Known affectionately as "Pops" and "Papa," he enjoyed Sunday drives with his family, Cardinals baseball games, and sitting on his front porch, enjoying nature. He loved family gatherings and would often tell stories of his childhood and military service. His children and grandchildren will remember him as a gentle, loving, and funny man. Harold's greatest legacy is his faith. He was a devoted man of God who attended the Noland Church of Christ for many years before moving to the Westridge Church of Christ in Pocahontas, AR. Harold is survived by children Linda (Ed) VanWinkle, Eugene (Kim Hutsell) Tyler, Peggy (Mike) Stogsdill, Ronnie Tyler and Rene'Tyler, Diane (Joe) Baltz, Beverly (Daniel) O'Shea; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Brothers Edward Tyler and Glen Tyler, sisters Alice Pace and Agnes Mayberry. Many family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn Hinkle Tyler, 2 brothers, 1 sister and 1 grandchild. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at McNabb Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held the following day on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Westridge Church of Christ with Gerald Fears officiating. Burial will follow in the Chesser Cemetery.
