Hanover Park, IL - The Burtman family is sad to announce the passing of Hanzil Lavern Burtman on November 14th, 2012 at Alexian Brother's Hospital in Elk Grove Village, Illinois surrounded by family members following a long battle with cancer. He was born on February 28th, 1941 outside of Pocahontas, Arkansas on Harmony Rd. He served in the US Army from 1960 to 1962. He was stationed in Germany, where he met his first wife, Helmy Lafleur. He is survived by the 3 children of that marriage: Mark Burtman, Elisabeth (Lisa) Burtman Lischer, and Christine Burtman. He is survived by his current wife, Maria Szpiech Burtman. He is also survived by his 2 sisters (Lena Burtman Hinkle and Mary Linda Burtman Ogle), 3 brothers (Audrion Burtman, Vincent Wayne Burtman, and John Burtman), and 4 grandchildren (Airth Burtman, Heather Burtman, Rachel Burtman, and Charlie Lischer) as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends and family. He is predeceased in death by his mother, Orpha Whitrock Burtman, and his father, Charles Roscoe Burtman. He is recently predeceased by his brothers, Otis Ray Burtman, Marvin Herald Burtman, and Charles Denzil Burtman. His also predeceased by 5 brothers and sisters who passed away in childhood: Maxine, Marshall, Alta Mae, Ella Faye, and Paul Allen. He was a devoted member of the Church of Christ. He worked as a draftsman and an engineer. He wrote music and sang beautifully. He coached baseball teams for his own kids, his nephew and other children as well. His funeral will be held at the McNabb Funeral Home at 2129 N Park St Pocahontas, Arkansas on Sunday November 18th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation at 12:00 noon for family and 1 p.m. for everyone. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery
