Mrs. Gracie Verneal Davis of Flippin, AR, formerly of Harrisburg, departed this life Sunday, September 2, 2018, at the Twin Lakes Therapy and Living Center in Flippin, at the age of 84.
She was born August 30, 1934 in Tupelo, Arkansas, the daughter of the late John William Morrison and Ruthie Brockwell Morrison.
Gracie married D.W. Davis on May 25, 1953 and they enjoyed 48 years together before his death in 2001. She was a homemaker but also a former employee of American Greetings in Harrisburg. She enjoyed sewing and embroidering, reading and shooting a rifle. She also loved fishing and raising her kids and grandkids. She was a devoted homemaker and of the Southern Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Becky Whitley, one son, Earnest "Red" Davis, six sisters, a half brother, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters, Connie Ply of Peel, AR, Debra Sparks of Midway, AR and Diana Davis of Peel, AR, three sons, Danny Davis (Darlene) of Wolcott, NY, Daryl Davis (Brenda) of Harrisburg, and Roger Davis of Harrisburg, 17 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and a special friend, Linda Fitzgerald Dobbins of Harrisburg.
Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home, Friday evening, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Her sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
