Jonesboro- Mrs. Goldie Mae Gray, 89, passed away peacefully at her home Monday, February 10, 2020.
She was born in Walnut Ridge and grew up in the Childress community near Monette. She was a 1949 graduate of Childress High School and later became a Registered Nurse. She was Dr. R.C. Shanlever's nurse for several years. She later served as Director of Nursing at Craighead Nursing Center in Jonesboro. She was a devout Christian her entire adult life, most recently a member of Highland Drive Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was very talented growing her plants and enjoyed cooking and hosting frequent family gatherings.
She is survived by two sons, Tommy Lee Gray Jr. and Stan Gray (Melinda) both of Jonesboro. A daughter, Kay Evelyn Stahl (Cleon) of Jonesboro. A sister, Donna McDaniel of Paragould. Three grandchildren, Greg Stahl (Heather), Laura Stahl and Virginia Brennan (Matt) and a great-grandchild, Evelyn Stahl.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Tom "Pop" Gray. Two brothers, Verdain Grady and Dickie Grady. A sister, Kay Corbett, and two great-grandsons, Samuel Lee Stahl and Silas William Stahl.
A celebration of her life will be 3:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2020 at the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Hutchison officiating. Interment will follow at Keller's Chapel Cemetery.
A visitation will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday until time of service at the funeral home.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Stan Gray, Greg Stahl, Cleon Stahl, Charlie Stone, Rick McDaniel and John Littlejohn.
