BRENTWOOD, Tenn.- Glenda Truel Tiner , 90, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014. Glenda was born February 14, 1924 in Pocahontas to the late Willis Andrew and Tola Victoria Johnson. Glenda is survived by her sons, Billy Don (Brenda) Tiner of San Antonio and David (Janina) Tiner of Brentwood, Tenn. Grandchildren, Lauren Tiner of San Antonio, Colby Tiner of Alexandria, Va., Sarah Kate (Craig) Anderson of Perth, Australia, John David (Tessa) Tiner of Nashville, and Anna Beth Tiner of Brentwood, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Tola Johnson, husband, Hite Eugene Tiner, sister, Pauline Johnson and her twin brother, Glendon Buel "Joe" Johnson. Glenda was an active member of the Pyburn Street Church of Christ for seventy years. She was a member of the Pocahontas High School Class of 1942 and married Hite Tiner on Christmas Day in 1945. They were married almost sixty-nine years until Hite's death in September of this year. Glenda was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Early in her adult life Glenda was employed at the Bank of Pocahontas. After taking time off to raise her sons, she began a twenty-five year career in 1964 as an administrative secretary at Pocahontas High School. She first worked for high school Principal M. D. Williams and later for the Superintendent of Pocahontas Public Schools. After her retirement, Glenda and Hite were members of the Good Sam RV Club for ten years. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2015 with services following at 11 a.m. in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel with Mitch Walton and Dennis McCurty officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are: Larry Joe Johnson (nephew), Kevin Barnett, Bob Dawson, Brian Ulmer, Mitch Walton and Eddie Prince.
