Obituary

Pocahontas- Glenda A. Smith, 70, passed away on October 2, 2019 at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Glenda was born on July 10, 1949 in Buzzard, Bluff, Alabama to Pilgrim and Dollie Beasley Abbott. She married the love of her life, Jimmie, on January 13, 1968. Glenda was an exceptional woman with an extraordinary heart of gold. She was Kind, generous and most of all loving to everyone she met. A great mother and an amazing grandmother. She had a forever love story that beat all odds. She cared for others without hesitation and always made sure doors and hearts were open. She was loved with a passion by all who knew her. She attended Walnut Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David R. Smith, granddaughter, Penelope McClanahan; sisters, Jewel Triplett and Joyce Pruitt; brothers, R. B. Abbott and Eulas (Monk) Abbott.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jimmie D. Smith; daughter, Deanna Smith of Pocahontas; son Daniel Smith of Wall, MS; grandchildren, Nic Smith and Alex Smith both of Walls, MS; Caleb Meigs of Pocahontas, Benjamin Meigs, of South Carolina, and Catherine McClanahan of Pocahontas; sisters, Shirley Cayson, Grace McKinney, Janice Lewis, and Linda Oliver; and brother, David Abbott.
Visitation will be Monday, October 7, 2019 at McNabb Funeral Home from 4-5 pm with a Memorial service immediately following at 5 pm with Jarvis Reed officiating. Cremation has been chosen as her final disposition.
