Obituary

Pocahontas - Mrs. Lucille Thomas, age 83, passed away July 27, 2009 at Randolph County Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. Born February 4, 1926 in Danville, Illinois, daughter of Floyd and Maggie Gibson Wantland, Mrs. Thomas was a Customer Service Representative, retiring from Farm Service, and a member of the Westridge Church of Christ. Mrs. Thomas was united to Eric Thomas on July 24, 1947, who preceded her in death on September 1, 1997. Mrs. Thomas was also preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Maggie Wantland, a brother Carl Wantland, a sister Ann Wantland, and a brother Gene Wantland. Mrs. Thomas is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Scottie and Mary Thomas of Pocahontas; three grandchildren; Rhiannon Smith and husband Wes, Erica Tanner and Derrick Mullin, all of Pocahontas; and Joel Thomas of Little Rock: Four great grandchildren, Angel DeClerk, Allen Tanner, and Kamika DeLeon all of Pocahontas; and Eric Thomas: and several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home starting at 12-1:30, July 31, 2009, followed by a graveside service at Masonic Cemetery with Brother David Webb officiating. Pallbearers will be Mary Cagle, Doug Cousins, Derrick Mullin, Wesley Smith, Freddie Wantland, and Larry Williams. Services will be under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas.
