Obituary

Geraldine "Jerri" "Granny" (Whitney) Goodwin, 92, of Maynard, passed away September 20, 2023, at her home.  She was born Aug. 13, 1931, to the late Wesley Whitney and Alma "Verna" Schwartz Whitney in Chicago, IL. She worked at Farmers and Merchants Bank in Maynard for 13 years serving the public. In the early 80's, Jerri "granny" opened Charlies Restaurant in Maynard, known for Charlies burgers with an arcade inside. She enjoyed the company of her family and friends and was a dedicated football fan. Go Cowboys! Granny enjoyed traveling and took many trips across the US to visit family in Mexico, Texas, and Las Vegas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Verna Whitney; brothers, Tom Whitney and Bob Whitney; grandson in law, Chris Tucker.

Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Julie Soles; grandchildren, Whitney (Jarrett) Meridith, Cory Townsend (Kara Oneal), and Kara (Lee Childs) Tucker; brother, Bill (Blanca) Whitney; seven great grandchildren, Baylee, Maci, Chase, Ryder, Karter, Lake and Lennox; two great-great grandchildren, Kam and Ellie; God grandchild, Chris (Kristina) Townsend; many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation will be held 1:00 – 3:00p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023, in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel with a service to begin at 3:00p.m. A burial will follow in the Maynard Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Tommy Whitney, Cory Townsend, Jarrett Meridith, Chris Townsend, Billy Brown, and Robert Watts.
