Jonesboro - Geraldine Carey, 93, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013 at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born January 15, 1920 at Jonesboro to the late Jesse and Mayvella Mattix King. She and her husband, Lloyd celebrated their sixty-ninth wedding anniversary shortly before he passed away in 2010. She retired from being the business manager and register with the Jonesboro Regional Office of Crowley's Ridge Girl Scout Council. Mrs. Carey was active with the First United Methodist Church and knitted for children thru the church. Survivors include a daughter, Becky (Jim) Hardin of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Carey Hardin Hoover and Jim Ed (Sherrie) Hardin; three great-grandchildren, Hannah Hoover, Madison Hardin and Grace Hardin all of Jonesboro; a special friend, Virginia Shakleford and the ladies of the Women's Circle of First United Methodist Church and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Carey; two sisters, Jessie Corinne Farmer and Blanch King. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro with Rev. John Miles officiating. Burial will follow in Keller's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from noon until time of service at the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ed Hinson, Thurman Hopkins, John Keyes, Wayne Sowell, Jerry Stevenson andPaul Turney and as honorary pallbearers are Russell Hendrix, Jerry D.
