Gerald “Hoss” Ronald Simkins, 73, of Black Rock departed this life on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at his home.

Hoss was born on February 13, 1953, to the late Gerald G. Simkins and Naomi Story Simkins in Dayton, Ohio. He was a loving father and grandfather. He was very involved in his grandchildren’s lives especially with their activities and sports.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Simkins; parents, Gerald and Naomi Simkins; daughter, Denise Simkins; grandchildren, Angelina Simkins and Ethin Romine; great grandchild, Rugar Cole Lasiter; siblings, Linda Dunham, and Teresa Stevens; best friend, Luke Clay.

He is survived by his children, Jackie Farris of Pocahontas, Jennie (Hoby) Romine of Williford, Lisa (Thomas) Young of Pocahontas, Gerald (Heidi) Simkins Jr. of Walnut Ridge, Vernon Simkins of Black Rock and John Simkins of Arkansas; grandchildren, Sarah, Sierra, Austin, Christopher, Zack, Gabe, Bailey, Ashlie, Ashlyn, Jacob, Hannah, Louie, Amy, Andrew, Kristen, Emily, Phynn, Trinity, Aniken; Honorary grandchildren, Kandyce Hall, Samantha Clay, Haven Clay; Fourteen great-great grandchildren; siblings, Dennis Simkins of Pocahontas, Carrie (Larry) Maccune of Michigan, Dawn (Bob) Tillery and Thomas Wright Jr. of Michigan.

There will be a memorial service announced at a later date.
