Pocahontas- Georgia Evelyn Davis was born September 19, 1929 in St. Louis, MO to Robert and Cora Gann, who a little while later moved back to Sitka, Arkansas where George was raised. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Community Church. She married James Ray Gipson in 1947 and 3 children were born out of this marriage. She was known for her generosity for her children. They were the center of her life. She married Orval Davis in 1959 and moved to Pocahontas, Arkansas where she spent the better part of her life and two more sons were born. Georgia never worked outside the home because of a severe hearing disability but became a wonderful housewife and loved to cook and took great pride in her home. She loved to travel. She never had a idle moment. She was dearly loved by her children. There are so many wonderful memories. God whispered to Georgia and (she heard) on June 28, 2016 your hard work on earth is finished. Come home. She is remembered by her four children: daughter, Alta Hill of Pocahontas, three sons: Floyd Jerry Gipson of Portia, John (Johnny) Henry Davis of Pocahontas, Lee Roy Davis of Imboden. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, first husband James Ray Gipson, second husband Orval Davis, and son Rodger Ray Gipson. Visitation will be Saturday, July 2, 2016 from 4-6 pm at McNabb Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 2 pm at Pleasant Ridge Community Church in Sitka, AR with Anthony Anston officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
