Obituary

Jonesboro- George Edward Pierce, 75, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 at his home.

He was born September 26, 1941 in Jonesboro to the late Ruben and Opal Lewis Pierce. He graduated from Valley View High School in 1959 and proudly served in the Arkansas National Guard for ten years. He was a frame specialist at Highway Garage for forty-four years. George was an avid sportsman, he loved the outdoors, gardening, reading, flea markets and piddling in his shop. He was a loving Papaw to his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 52 yrs., Ann Woods Pierce of the home; two daughters, Tammy Mays (J. D.) of Jonesboro and Crystal Nichols (Bryan) of Bono; four grandchildren, Jessica Richmond (Dalton) of Jonesboro, Ashton Nichols of Bono, Jenna Mays of Jonesboro and Dustin Nichols of Paragould; a brother, Gary Pierce (Monica) of Clarksville; best friend, Larry Soffray.

He was also preceded in death by a sister.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be at 2:30 pm Saturday, March 25, 2017 at McDaniel Cemetery with Herbert Pierce officiating.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Joe Pierce, Ronnie Pierce, Barry Phillips, Jeff Prestidge, Dalton Richmond and Tommy Soffray.

A special thank you to Dr. Randy Carlton, Dr. Gail Berntson and St. Bernards Home Health for the wonderful care they gave him though his illness.
