Mr. George Ray Myers of Harrisburg, Arkansas, departed this life Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at the NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas, at the age of 93.
He was born July 28, 1926 in Wewoka, OK, the son of the late George Jessie Myers and Edna Edith Kerby Myers.
At age 15, George moved to California and worked until he joined the Navy. He served several years in the Navy and spent some time in the Philippines. Following his time in the Navy, he moved back to Oklahoma and began working in the oil fields and also began his trucking career. About 30 years ago George moved to the Harrisburg area and began working for King Trucking. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with horses and cattle and enjoyed bowling.
He is survived by one son, Mark Myers (Kimberly) of Okemah, OK, one brother, Johnny Myers of Wewoka, OK, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several close friends and caregivers, Lanell King, Penny King, Linda Witt, Andy Privett and Marie Rolland, all of Harrisburg, and Brandon and Matt King, both of Jonesboro.
Funeral services have been set for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg, with Brother Marlin Kirby officiating. Private Interment will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday morning, 10:00 a.m. till service time.
