Obituary

Pocahontas- George Edwards, 83, passed away May 2, 2016 surrounded by family and friends. George was born May 2, 1933 in Little Rock, AR to Benjamin and Carolyn Boullioun Edwards. George was a Pharmacist for 54 years and was the owner of City Pharmacy for 34 years. He served in the United States Army as a Pharmacist for 2 years. He was a member of St. Paul's since 1966 serving as choir director, organist, and in 1981 he was in the first class of Deacons to be ordained in the Catholic Church. He was active in many committees to better the community of Randolph County. He was a part of the St. Paul's school board and President of the Rotary Club. George was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 50 years serving as State Deputy and 4th Degree Grand Knight. He is survived by daughters: Julie and husband Tracy Edwards of Nashville, TN, Carol Reynolds of Pocahontas; granddaughters: Jordyn Edwards and Emily Reynolds both of Nashville, TN; sister-in-law Jane and husband John Archer of Memphis, TN, and brother-in-law Stephen Vester of Mountain Home. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Henrietta Edwards. All services will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 pm with a Rosary service at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 11:00 am with Father Athanasius Okeiyi officiating. The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Honor Guard will be in attendance. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery. Pallbearers: Mike Broyles, John Nichols, Tommy Bennett, Justin Broadway, Howard Thielemier and John Archer. Honorary pallbearers: Leroy Nichols, Billy Reynolds. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Paul's Organ Fund.
